The sun was shinging and there was a slight breeze blowing it's way through the stadium on Spetember 4, 2010. The only thing hot that day was the Iowa Hawkeyes who entertained the Eastern Illinois Panthers with a 37 -7 victory.
There were a lot of 1st time scenarios that would take place during this very special day:
1st time the Iowa fans alcohol consumption would be under scrutiny - in an attempt to create a more family friendly environment. There were about 150 citations for open container violations. It seemed much calmer at Kinnick Stadium - not so many fans "bouncing off the walls". The only parking lot that I passed through was the one adjoining Kinnick Stadium. As I stood in line at the gate - people seemed "more contained". It was a pleasant change.
1st time I ever saw a hair style like this
1st time EIU ever faced an opponent ranked this high.
1st time my co workers daughter ever attended a Iowa Hawkeye Football Game
1st time Adam Robinson had 3 TD's in one game.
1st time Paki Omeara blocked a punt and returned it for a TD.
1st time Brad Herman had 3 receptions totaling 57 yards.
1st time Iowa fans set a Guiness World record with over 7,000 participants doing the Hokey Pokey

1st times always are so cherished. I am sure there were thousands of 1st times created and shared at this very 1st game of the season. To all of you who made this 1st game memorable - God Bless and GO HAWKS!!!!!
