COMMON SENSE QUERY
Ever wonder how some people aquire so much common sense and others appear to have no common sense what so ever. What is "Common Sense"?
Einstein said: "Common sense is the collection of prejudices acquired by age 18."
Perhaps a better definition might be common sense are those things that are obvious. For example we know if we go out into the rain we will get wet, or that humans do not walk on their heads.
Sometimes things that seem obvious to one person can be obscure to another, especially if they are from another culture, religion or background. Common sense then is not always common to everyone. When beliefs play a strong part in how people perceive things.
I may believe that the flood was caused by a change in weather pattern, but someone who believes in supernatural beings, may be obvious to them they have displeased the rain God.
It can take years for a human to build of a wealth of wisodm about the way the world works. By the age of three a child will have aquired more common sense than the most sophisticated computer. Artificial Intelligence researchers (AIR) can design a computer that can win at chess, but they have yet to develop a computer that could carry on an intelligent conversation because the computer has no wisdom of ordinary life.
Let's see if we can build a bridge of common sense that can help jump start those who have a need to increase their protfolio of common sense.
